The Royal Astronomical Society have generously agreed to make a pot of money available to amateur astronomical societies running public events between 3rd and 16th January 2011.

This pot of money will be distributed to societies who ask for it on a first-come-first-served basis, and will amount to £50 per society, to cover the costs of travel and transport to and from your events. A maximum of forty such grants will be awarded.

If you use this money to help run an event as part of the BBC Stargazing LIVE campaign (see previous email dated November 18), then you will receive free BBC branding (posters). Do feel free to use this branding, however please ensure that this BBC branding is not added to with any other logos, including that of the RAS. Also, please ensure that the BBC logos/ identity is not used on any other posters which may include the logo of the RAS.
