Synopsis: In 2016 the UK government started a process to identify suitable sites in the UK to become a spaceport. At that time Cornwall Airport Newquay was the fastest growing regional airport in the country but had no knowledge of space launch. In 2022 Spaceport Cornwall will deliver the UK’s historic first sovereign orbital launch when Virgin Orbit launches from Newquay. Hear an update from Spaceport Cornwall Business Development Manager Ross Hulbert, on how Cornwall got here, plans for the UK’s ‘Year of Launch’ and why offering launch services from the UK for the first time is important for the economy, society, and will inspire the next generation of space and tech entrepreneurs.’
