Around the times of the clock change in October the Dark Sky Discovery
project will be promoting a number of events around the UK to
encourage the general public to enjoy the night sky.
The project has obtained funding from STFC to help local astronomical
societies to run events during the period, and has asked the FAS to
assist with the coordination and distribution of the grants. In
addition to the STFC funding, the FAS is matching the amount the STFC
are providing to help more societies run events.

Please note the following:
1. The window for events that will be supported is October 20th to
November 11th 2012
2. Applications must be received by 17th September.
3. Applications will be dealt with on first-come, first-served basis,
so please apply as soon as you can commit to an event.

We hope that FAS members will support this initiative by Dark Sky
Discovery, and be able to run a series of interesting events around
the country.
